Sinusitis, or sinus infection, is an inflammation or swelling of the tissues inside the sinus cavity, which consists of the hollow areas around the forehead, cheeks, and nose. The sinus cavity is normally filled with air, but during a sinus infection, it becomes blocked and filled with mucus, which leads to bacterial growth and infection. This condition can be painful and cause nasal congestion along with fever and other symptoms. Medicines and home remedies can provide a possible solution to cure sinusitis permanently.

What is sinusitis?

Sinusitis is the medical term for inflammation or swelling of the sinus cavities around the nose, cheeks and forehead. Bacterial infections, viral infections, allergies, and other factors can irritate the lining of the sinus tissues, causing mucus and blockage. This can cause nasal congestion, pressure and pain in the cheeks and forehead.

Sinusitis can manifest in different forms:

  1. Acute sinusitis
  2. Chronic sinusitis
  3. Subacute sinusitis
  4. Repeated sinuosity

Who is at risk of sinusitis?

Some people may be more at risk of sinusitis than others, depending on various existing health conditions, such as:

  1. allergy
  2. Asthma
  3. Nasal polyps
  4. Weak immunity

Smoking and having a deviated septum can also make a person susceptible to sinusitis. The septum is the inner lining of the nose that divides it into two sides. Having a deviated septum can cause narrowing of one side of the nasal passage leading to a blockage.

 

Symptoms of chronic sinusitis

Sinusitis can present with a variety of symptoms and the type of symptoms experienced can determine how to permanently treat sinusitis. Some common symptoms of sinusitis may include the following:

Thick white, yellow or green discharge from the nose

  1. stuffy nose
  2. Mucus is running down the throat
  3. Feeling pressure around nose, cheeks, under eyes and forehead
  4. headache
  5. Pressure or pain in gums and teeth
  6. Nasal congestion or obstruction
  7. fever
  8. cough
  9. sadness
  10. Smell problem
  11. bad breath

Different types of sinusitis can cause a variety of symptoms, which can last from days to weeks.

Simple Ways to Get Rid of Sinusitis Problems

  1. Raw vegetable juice is very beneficial in reducing the effects of sinusitis. 300 ml. Carrot juice, 100 ml. Cucumber juice, 100 ml. beet juice and 200 ml. Mix spinach juice well and drink it daily.
  2. If you suffer from sinusitis, try eating foods rich in vitamin A like mango, pumpkin, egg yolk, tomato, papaya, carrot, milk and curd.
  3. Mix 100 grams of cumin seeds with 200 grams of ghee and consume daily. This is one of the ways to prevent sinusitis.
  4. 1 tablespoon of black cumin can be tied in a thin cloth and smell it.
  5. Boil one tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water till half. Consuming 3/4 glass every day will reduce the problem of sinusitis a lot.
  6. Smelling onion and ginger is very beneficial. These two ingredients have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
  7. Drink lukewarm ginger or cinnamon tea.
  8. Cold and oily food must be avoided.
  9. You may be surprised to hear that exercise can reduce the effects of sinusitis. Exercising increases adrenaline in the body, which reduces enlarged sinus tissue.
  10. We are all more or less familiar with vinegar. This vinegar reduces mucus production and relieves us from sinusitis. Consume two teaspoons of vinegar in a glass of lukewarm water 3 times a day.

Remedy for sinusitis

Consult a doctor if you think your headache is due to sinusitis. In the initial stages, the doctor mainly understands the degree of sinusitis and gives medicine and nasal drops. If the sinusitis is more than this, it has to be arranged for washing.
